BYOD to Support High-Yield Instructional Strategies

Ideally, participants will have a computer connected to WebEx for the OTF Connects and then have a mobile device that they can "play" with during the session. This is not necessary. There will be time to test or play with the tools discussed as we work through the session. You could use any mobile device, or another browser window on your computer to do this. Part of the discussion will include how the tools worked on different devices.

    • Voice Recorder apps (on Android, Sound Cloud on pretty much any device, Audioboo on any device)
    • Evernote speech-to-text for Android, Mac and works on iOS)
    • iPad Apps like Educreations (free) for explaining understanding using audio and writing on screen
    • Capturing screen of a laptop to explain something (perhaps while drawing using simple paint program): JING
    • Using voicethread to explain their thinking
    • Creating video as a product for demonstrating understanding (example: iMovie, Photo Story, etc. Ask the student)
    • Accessing video (like youtube) about concepts for visual learners
    • Accessing text-audio apps and tools to help auditory learners (in iOS devices set up under settings, general, accessibility).
